Rules of interview session selection

Thanks for selecting CityU BBA Marketing (1119), BBA China Business (1066), and/or BBA Marketing Information Management (1183) in your 25 choices for JUPAS. You are cordially invited to attend a group interview which will be scheduled upon your selection of a time slot at the website via the following link: http://www.cityu.edu.hk/mkt, where programme details are also available.

Please select Interview Arrangement (under "Admission"). The interviews will be primarily conducted in Cantonese. If you are an English speaker, a dedicated session at 18:30-20:55 on May 18 2012 will be scheduled. Please select this time slot accordingly.

Deadline for interview registration: Apr 30, 2012 (The deadline has been extended to May 19, 2012 for the rest of the interview quota. First come, first served.)

Rules of interview session selection:

  1. Bring along with you your Hong Kong identity card and the email confirmation from Department of Marketing upon your selection of interview session.

  2. If you do not receive the email confirmation within an hour upon your selection of interview session, please contact us through the enquiry function on the above interview session page. There might be chances that your selection did not reach us.

  3. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the appointed time.

  4. There is NO NEED to bring your supporting documents like certificates, transcripts for the interview session.

  5. If you are willing to take a risk of no interview session left for selection, you may delay the interview session selection by clicking the button of ''Not selecting the interview session at the moment'' on the page of interview session selection since the session will be released session by session. Your ranking position in our program(s) will not be affected.

  6. If you want to change the interview session after you have selected it, your ranking in our program(s) will drop by 20 places automatically each time.

  7. If you are absent from the interview with online notification on the same site of time slot selection, your ranking in our program(s) will drop by 20 places automatically each time.

  8. If you are absent from the interview without online notification before 23:59 on June 25, 2012, your ranking in our program(s) will drop by 50 places automatically.

  9. The above penalties will be applied to BBA Marketing (1119), BBA China Business (1066) and/or BBA Marketing Information Management (1183). If you can provide supporting document(s) like medical proof for your absence, the penalty may be exempted. Please scan it and send it to Ms. Lilian Hau at mkadmiss@cityu.edu.hk within one week of your selected date of the interview. You need to state clear your application no., full name, interview session, program applied, contact phone number, and email.

Tips for the interview:

  1. Questions you might be asked include but are not limited to the following. You are highly recommended to browse the above-mentioned website to understand our department and program more.
    - the marketing strategies for any brand, our program, department, and university;
    - current issues (Hong Kong, China, and the world);
    - the ways to handle a project, a function, a challenging tasks;
    - the ways to handle a case in interpersonal skills or dilemma.

  2. You may face some tough topics or be challenged by other applicants. Try to present your ideas with sound arguments. Be confident! All of your expressions will be carefully examined. We look for confident applicants who can present their ideas well.

  3. Lateness gives interviewers a bad impression. However, if it happens inevitably, you may change to the next session if there is a vacancy though your ranking in our program(s) will drop by 20 positions.

  4. If there is any emergency that we need to cancel the interview, we will notify you via email as soon as possible. We will also announce it on the above website.

  5. Smile can give a good impression.

  6. Proper attire is instrumental to projecting a professional image which will add value to your overall assessment.

  7. If you have received this invitation for interview but got the message that “You are not invited to attend the interview” when you login, please inform us via mkadmiss@cityu.edu.hk.

  9. If you have applied for BBA Marketing, BBA China Business, and / or BBA Marketing Information Management at CityU, you only need to enroll once. Your interview score will be used in the above programs.

  10. There is a briefing session prior to the group interview at your selected time slot to explain the criteria, marking scheme, median admission score, interview tips, and other admission policy. Don’t come late.

  11. The group size is around 10 applicants. The interview will last 15 minutes. Therefore, you should try your best to express yourself within the time constraint. We are looking for applicants who can survive in this game. Our objective is to find the suitable applicants and raise their chances to be admitted. Try your best to perform well. Your manner and absence may affect it.

  12. Don't reply to this email since it is sent by our system automatically. You can click the interview arrangement on the above link. After you login, you can ask your question by pressing the button of enquiry.

  13. If your friend applying for our programs (BBA Marketing, BBA China Business, and / or BBA Marketing Information Management) has not received our invitation email, he can try to click "Check Interview Invitation Status" on the above login site to know whether he is eligible for the interview or not.
